INTRODUCTION : AIM AND OBJECTIVES

Among the CESU's initiatives will be international conferences, debates and readings, all to be overseen by a Committee of eminent academics. Also of great importance will be the CPE - CORONA PATRVM ERASMIANA, an editorial project consisting of a double series of primary texts to be selected from the most prominent among Early Christian and humanistic sources, and to be published in the original languages (Latin or Greek) and based on the better available editions, with introductions, commentary and translations in Italian and/or English.

The object of this initiative will be to promote knowledge of the patrimony of the so-called "Christian Classicism" in Western cultural tradition, covering a wide range of literary works by patristic authors and Renaissance humanists, all gathered under the aegis of Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam, considered to be the outstanding figure in this distinguished company of writers. A further aim will be that of preserving the once prestigious CORONA PATRVM series, published by S.E.I. (Società Editrice Internazionale - Turin), by reprinting - in even more elegant format - its most significant volumes.
